I am currently working in a new direction, one that employs organic forms, but also studies utilitarian objects.
I am still using boats as an inspiration, but I am now also studying the natural movements of plants in various weather conditions in order to create flowing organic sculptures that interact with a natural outdoor environment. I am applying this movement to create more kinetic sculptures, pieces that bring about a calming effect, much the same as the elements in a zen garden.
My focus is on making abstractions out of wood that will emphasize the organic lines of natural forms, but be their own unique shape. A shape that becomes part of it's environment.
